What is Bicycle commuting?

The actual meaning of the word commuting is the traveling of to a certain distance to and from work, in case of children it may be a school and in case of adults it may be office. This way of utilization of a cycle to commute is widely prevalent in the countries like Europe, India, and in China, though it is very rare in the provinces of the United Sates of America.

If an eye is drawn on to the far west, it is quite visible that the people there are using this mode of commuting via a bicycle as a medium of transport for themselves. There are also the provisions for the usage of cycles which can be folded and thus needs a much less space for its parking. For the problem of parking there is another alterative which is to keep them at various stops and stations in the parking areas by paying them a minimal amount of money for the purpose.


In the entire world the most prevalently used vehicle for the purpose of commuting is a bicycle, and of course the one in second position for it is by the way of on foot by the two legs. There are some visible differences between a normal bicycle and a bike for the purpose of commutation. The main distinguishing features are the provisions of lights, a rack at the back; some lights also, with provisions for the mudguards and some kind of box, bag, or any carrier, with sufficient coverings on the chain are also present. There are also presences of gears in some of the commuter’s bike, which is not a necessity.

The commuting in a bike not only is saving the environment and the natural resources but also helping the commuter in many ways of his health. In the process of commuting the bikes, the person doing so is doing some kind of a physical exercise without wasting any time of his and is thus going towards the maintaining of a better life in terms of health. This regular cycling gives the person a life time guarantee of not having to face any kind of a disease of the heart- the most dreaded organ to be diseased.

There have been many advices coming in from the NIH, that is, the National Institute of Health about the advantages of exercising regularly for the purpose of keeping fit, and also disease free. The numerous amount of researching done in this field of the Cardio-vascular system has given details about the values of exercise in maintaining the continuous obstruction free regulation of blood flow in the body.

This helps not get any kind of disease of the heart such as Myocardial infarction, coronary heart diseases such as ischemic and rheumatic heart disease. Sitting in the luxurious cars at the signals on traffic not at all worth for the body that the cycling way is. Then there are also some of the advantages in the department of economy if someone is commuting on a bicycle.
